Een documentaire fysieke performance over trauma, de realiteit die onder de huid leeft en de blinde vlekken van onze samenleving.

In BAKENEKO staat performer en maker Charlotte Goesaert zelf op scène in een fysieke solo over hoe trauma zich vastzet in het lichaam – onzichtbaar voor de buitenwereld, maar allesbepalend van binnenuit. De voorstelling legt de sluimerende sporen van kindermisbruik en verwaarlozing bloot, en bevraagt tegelijk de mechanismen die ze in stand houden.

Vertrekkend vanuit gesprekken met mensen die vanuit hun maatschappelijke rol in aanraking komen met deze thematiek, verweeft Goesaert hun stemmen, beelden en geluid met de expressieve aanwezigheid van haar eigen lichaam. Zo ontstaat een indringende scenische ervaring waarin documentaire elementen en fysieke verbeelding elkaar uitdagen.

BAKENEKO is geen zoektocht naar pasklare antwoorden, maar een uitnodiging tot collectief nadenken. Hoe komt het dat we signalen zo vaak te laat opmerken? Waarom grijpen we niet sneller in? Wat moet er veranderen om kinderen beter te beschermen? Hoe gaan we om met een realiteit die we liever zouden vergeten? Waar ligt de grens tussen mededogen en ongemak? Goesaert dompelt het publiek onder in een ervaring die schuurt, raakt en blijft nazinderen. In een wereld waar trauma vaak onderhuids blijft, nodigt deze voorstelling uit tot het scherpstellen van onze blik – als burgers, professionals, ouders, medemensen.

Na whatchamacallit verdiept Charlotte Goesaert haar unieke vormtaal waarin beeld, lichaam en geluid samenkomen in een fysieke, kwetsbare en confronterende performance die zichtbaar maakt wat doorgaans ongezien blijft.

A documentary physical performance about trauma, the reality that lives beneath the skin and the blind spots of our society.

In BAKENEKO, performer and creator Charlotte Goesaert takes to the stage in a physical solo performance about how trauma becomes embedded in the body – invisible to the outside world, but all-determining from within. The performance exposes the latent traces of child abuse and neglect, while questioning the mechanisms that perpetuate them.

Based on conversations with people who encounter this theme in their social roles, Goesaert interweaves their voices, images and sounds with the expressive presence of her own body. This creates a penetrating scenic experience in which documentary elements and physical imagination challenge each other.

BAKENEKO is not a search for ready-made answers, but an invitation to collective reflection. Why do we so often notice the signs too late? Why don't we intervene more quickly? What needs to change to better protect children? How do we deal with a reality we would rather forget? Where is the line between compassion and discomfort? Goesaert immerses the audience in an experience that rubs, touches and lingers. In a world where trauma often remains subcutaneous, this performance invites us to sharpen our gaze – as citizens, professionals, parents, fellow human beings.

After whatchamacallit, Charlotte Goesaert deepens her unique visual language in which image, body and sound come together in a physical, vulnerable and confrontational performance that reveals what usually remains unseen.
